About

Lindsay has been drawing and painting since a child. At 16 she entered the financial services sector where she continued to work for the next 20 years but always kept her love of art and never missed an opportunity to be creative. In 2007 she left banking to follow this passion and entered Wolverhampton University to study Illustration from where she graduated in 2010 with a BA(Hons) Illustration closely followed in 2012 with MA Illustration (Merit). Since graduating Lindsay has been busy working in the creative industries running workshops, exhibiting her work, selling through a number of galleries, taking commissions and running workshops both from her studio and in the community. She currently divides her time between her Wolverhampton studio and the wild, open landscapes of Northern England.

Mainly working in oil, her work has its roots in the remote, empty landscapes of the Pennine Moors which captivated her as a child travelling from the industrial West Midlands to West Yorkshire on family visits. Since then, she has been fascinated by wild, open moorland and upland fells, and enjoys working en-plein air to experience the shifting weather patterns, sights and sounds around her as she paints. Through the medium of oil, she aims to transpose this onto canvas to recreate the sensory experience of being submerged in the raw, wild landscape at the mercy of the elements.

Lindsay appeared as one of eight pod artists on Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year 2017 filmed at Knaresborough Castle in June 2017 and broadcast on Sky Arts October 2017.

She is an active member of the Black Country Urban Sketchers whose aim is to encourage people to sketch en plein air in their local environment and who come together regularly to sketch their local environment.

Lindsay is also a committee member of the Wolverhampton Society of Artists working within the society, exhibiting in their exhibitions and organising their annual Open studios event.

Lindsay is currently represented by Northern Lights Gallery, Keswick - www.northernlightsgallery.co.uk. and Sky Artist of the Year Gallery - www.skyartistoftheyear.tv
